REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN AGRO-PROCESSING OPERATION IN GUYANA

The Food and Drugs Department requires the following:

• An approval from the Ministry of Housing & Water

• Proof of Business Registration (this is obtained from the High Court)

• Process flow diagram of the proposed operation

• Copy of Label for review and approval (vetting) by the Food & Drug Department; only one or a few copies of labels should be printed for this purpose (Click here to see Quick Guide on Food Labelling)

• Obtain application form, complete and submit to Food & Drug Department; a processing fee of $5,000.00 is required

• Inspection Report from Food & Drug Department or Environmental Health Officer from the relevant National Democratic Council (Click here to download Report on Inspection form)

The above information when submitted is reviewed prior to approval and granting of manufacturing licence.
